Asbestos Update

posted Sep 2, 2016, 10:01 AM by Stephanie Burdic

TO PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND STAFF OF NORTH HIGH SCHOOL:

August 24, 2016

In compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) rules and regulations, the district utilizes the AMI Group of Omaha to inspect and report on the presence and condition of all asbestos-containing materials in our facilities.

AMI, working with the district spares no effort to thoroughly inspect, sample, test, and document suspected and previously known locations.  Our current 6-month re-inspection report includes documentation of our findings, as well as the current status of the material.  It is the district's intent to eliminate as much of the "assumed asbestos-containing material" from the reports as we reasonably can through sampling and analysis.  Through these procedures, AMI's findings for North High are as follows:
  • Transite panels (fume hoods) in Chemistry Labs 2606 & 2652
The 6-month surveillance report indicates that these asbestos-containing materials are being maintained in a safe condition.

The Building Plan for North High is available for review at the site, or the District Plan is available at Millard Schools Support Services Center located at 13906 F Street, Omaha, NE.  If you have questions, or would like to review the District Plan, please contact Ed Rockwell at 402-715-1396.

Sincerely,

Ed Rockwell
