Journalism State Finals

MN journalists had a successful NSAA State competition yesterday. As a school we finished 3rd. A highlight of the day included three students winning State Championships in their individual categories. 

The awards are as follows:
Geordi Gonzales--State Champion in Photo Illustration
Dei Rodriguez--State Champion in Editorial Cartooning
Kate Smith--State Champion in Yearbook Layout

Christina Youn--2nd in Editorial Writing
Priya Kukreja--3rd in In-Depth Reporting
Katie Smith -  3rd in Yearbook Feature Writing 
Leily Zhu--4th in Headline Writing
Camryn Mottl--4th in Newspaper Sports Feature Writing
Tyler Collins--4th in Column Writing
Eden Loveridge--5th in Entertainment/Review Writing

Priya Kukreja was also recognized as the 2017 Nebraska Journalist of the Year!

District Music Results

 All large ensembles (1st hour Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, and Singer's Choir) earned I's (top scores) from all judges, resulting in the much-sought-after score of I+ (Superior plus).

This is the first time all groups from MNHS earned this distinction!

State Computer Competition

On Monday, April 3, Millard North's Computer Science teams went to Lincoln to participate in UNL's CSE Day competition. There were two events, a programming competition and logic exam.

The following Millard North students placed 1st in the programming competition and 2nd in the logic exam. They thought of solutions to problems faster and more efficiently, out-performing 36 teams from High Schools across Nebraska.
