Mission


The mission of Millard North High School is to guarantee that each student masters the

academic skills and develops character traits and intercultural understanding through

challenging, diverse, personalized opportunities that prepare, engage, and motivate students

to pursue career pathways and contribute nationally and internationally.


Objectives

  • All students will meet or exceed district and state standards; the achievement gap between subgroups will decrease annually; and overall performance on district and state assessments will increase annually.


  • Each student will set and achieve challenging educational and career goals tailored to his/her abilities, interests and aspirations.


  • The percentage of students participating in and performing at high levels on measures of national and/or international educational excellence will increase annually.


  • All students will develop and consistently demonstrate character traits and positive behaviors necessary for personal excellence and responsible citizenship.


  • Each student will have a positive personal connection with a caring adult at MNHS.

Collect data to determine correlation between test preparation/actual results, student scores at Millard North, and historical scores at Millard North to establish a baseline.

Identify and promote existing test prep opportunities at Millard North High School (ex. Prep Me).

Identify strategies that cohort schools that implement all school ACT tests use to prepare their students. (ex. A-List teacher training for standardized testing).

Identify time and interest within the school day and before/after school to offer test preparation opportunities (ex. Mustang Time, before school Monday, after school study center, etc.).

Identify and analyze existing elements utilized that contribute to a strong college culture at Millard North so that they can be enhanced (ex. PLP, Naviance, Personality Testing, College Search, Career Interest Search, etc.).

Increase awareness of tools available to students through existing infrastructure to help students prepare for and select post-graduate educational routes (ex. Naviance, Education Quest, etc. Consider using Mustang Time as an opportunity to increase awareness).

Identify strategies utilized at cohort schools to strengthen a college/ post-graduate educational culture.  (ex. College and Career Banners in hallways, College of the Week, Former students come back to talk about their college experiences, etc.).

Create a post-graduate educational culture (make the school appear college friendly, 2- and 4- year college pennants on walls, utilize TV screens to display ACT/SAT “question of the week,” “college of the week” profiles during announcements, etc.)
